Washing Machine Tea Cosy Knitting Pattern
Tea cosies are a great way to personalise your teapot. You can slip a different tea cosy on your teapot to suit your mood. And unusual tea cosy make great talking points at tea parties, as well as making great personal gifts for your friends and family who also enjoy a nice cup of tea brewed the old fashioned way in a teapot. I don't think tea cosies get more unusual that the Washing machine tea cosy, this is possible the most ideal birthday present for Dot Cotton who works in Albert Square's laundrette.
The Washing machine tea cosy is really easy to knit because there isn't any shaping - so it's a great tea cosy for the new knitter.

To Make up the Tea Cosy
Take the top piece and mark half way along the row end sides, these are the sides of the washing machine. Now mark half way along the cast on and cast off edges. Take the front and sides piece and fold it in half, with the right sides facing out. Put this centre point (Garter stitch at the bottom) on the centre mark of the cast on side of the top (with right sides facing). Then pin into place with the sides turning around the right angle of the washing machine top, the sides should end at the centre points of the row end sides. Stitch into place and repeat this procedure for the back and sides piece of knitting.
Where the sides meet, sew them together a short way at the top and again at the bottom leaving a gap for the teapot handle and spout.
On the front of the washing machine sew on the dials on the top right corner. Sew two red dots next to the dials as little red lights.
Sew the cast on cast off edges together of the sewing machine door to make a ring. Pin the ring to the front of the washing machine, and slot behind it the blue washing piece of knitting. Sew al the door into place.
